The Rising Star of Chrystia Freeland: Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister

Chrystia Freeland is a prominent Canadian politician and the current Deputy Prime Minister of Canada. She was born in Peace River, Alberta, and grew up in a family of Ukrainian heritage. Freeland attended Harvard University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Russian history and literature, and then went on to receive a Master of Studies in Slavonic studies from St. Antony’s College, Oxford. After working as a journalist for various publications, Freeland entered the political arena in 2013, when she was elected as a Member of Parliament for Toronto Centre. She has since held positions as Minister of International Trade, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Finance.

Known for her sharp intellect and strong leadership skills, Freeland has quickly risen through the ranks of Canadian politics. In 2020, she was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister, in addition to her role as Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs.
